“Gett Off” by Prince & the New Power Generation
(Words/Music: Prince, Album: Diamonds and Pearls, Paisley Park 1991)

themesong: sex scene

When thinking about the connection between sex and music, Prince has to be on the list. Not only is the music rhythmically seductive, but the lyrics contain some level of eroticism. And while many of his songs would fit in this category (off the top of my head: “Darling Nikki”, “Cream”, “Little Red Corvette”), I chose “Get Off” because my favorite of Prince’s “did he really just say that” lines: “twenty-three positions in a one-night stand”. Whenever I hear that, I can’t help but begin to think of sexual positions and, I’m sorry to say, I never even come close to twenty-three. Then I realize that Prince has made me imagine my own sex scene.
